A Simple Guide to Layering Fragrances

A Simple Guide to Layering Fragrances

The easiest way to start is with two fragrances from the same family - a floral with a woody floral, for example - rather than pairing opposites that fight for attention. A few things are worth remembering once you do:

  • Apply the heavier, longer-lasting scent first as a base, then the lighter one on top.
  • Give the base a minute to settle before adding the second layer, so the two don't compete while still wet.
  • Trial sizes make this easy to test before committing to a full bottle of either scent.

A small collection of two or three scents worn this way is often more versatile than one larger bottle worn alone.
